Re: NUBA COR

Hey all, my name is Alex, first post on this wonderful forum.
One day I came along this COR magazine, and I saw this scene, I just could not stop thinking of it for a day, lighting was so perfect, and the feeling of willing to be there right now was, it was so inspirational.
so I could not help it, I've decided to make it!

First week I was modeling and texturing, on the second I was setting up the light and making final texture tweaking, and for the last week I was testing some nice techniques of post production and passes combination.

Hope you like it, the scene was make with 3DsMax, VRay and Photoshop.

Wish you all the best, critiques and comments are warmly welcome!

Alex

Welcome to the threedy forums!

Very very realistic, impressive modelling and superb lighting.....those books really look real. It hardly looks like a CG image at all, very good indeed

Simply breathtaking.. From modelling to lighting to PP. However, on the first picture the sofa on the left-is it just texture or the noise is really cranked up.?

Hey, very nice job. Great modeling and lighting..

I checked out your blog and it looks pretty interesting also. Problem is today I don't have much time but I'll look at your blog a bit more later.

Keep it up!

sweet, has cool lighting to it, nice and atmospheric. Now, all it needs is a large lcd TV :P

very nice work all round, a nice design and very good lighting. my only criticism is that you may want to use displacement in the close up shots, you can clearly see the cloth of those chairs being a flat texture there, especially in the shadowed areas. aside from that, sweet job

This is very realistic indeed. How long you are rendered this scene? This is real CG DOF or you made it in compose?

Hey thanks guys! really appreciate it!

1. Could not render displace met on closeups, I guess because it's more than 90% of the frame...so there is displacement on long shots only...

2. the render times were 10 hours per image, 1500 pix on 1200 pix size, I wanted to get good quality that's why I went really high with settings...3 on "Global switches"..and really high qmc sampler..

3. The DOF was made with camera, I do not like the post production DOF look, It kinda crops the models...

4. there is really nothing special on wires...all basic modeling...lighting 1 VRaySun, and 1 VRayLight - Portal. tha's it..

Thanks again
Alex
