Fisher Price Dog
Here's my entry. This chap was a toy that I had as a child and he still sits near my desk today. When this challenge came up I couldn't resist the chance to give him a go.
The whole thing was poly modelled and turbosmoothed, I resisted the urge to use splines (except for the string) and started each component from a single poly. I don't know if that was wise or not. Pretty straightforward shapes and lots of duplication, The most difficult parts were the feet and trying to tie a knot in a spline (drove me mad!). There are some noise modifiers in there to try to break up the geometry a little, I would have liked to have modelled the ageing a little more, especially to model the paper peeling off. I had intended to do this but ran out of time. Last edited by lonelymonk; 24-03-2011 at 01:35 PM.. Reason: Changed the wires to unsmoothed |

had fun with this one - did the table + chairs in 20 min (slow start). Did the wire labyrinth plus the beads in the next 55 min and finished it off with the last minutes spent on the last two rattle toys.
Couldn't have done it without path constrained bead to the spline path (renderable spline modifier for visibility) and using snapshot - makes the desired amount of beads on an animated constrained path movement. |

Hello everyone,
well here's my entry. It is a tribute to one of the best movies I've watched. ![]() I used to modelling the Softimage Xsi and Photoshop for texturing. Hope you liked it. And feel free to comment! Last edited by llambertt; 25-03-2011 at 01:20 AM.. |

Pyraminx
Hey Everyone!
This is my first 3DTotal Challenge, I was inspired by the challenge's cover art + one of the 3dtotal logos, so I mixed them together for my challenge entry ![]() (you can find a rendition of the 3dtotal logo in the Clay/Wire shots) I had a lot of fun creating this, hope you enjoy! Made using 3dsMax ![]() Rendered in MentalRay Modeling Time: 60 Minutes - 15 minutes creating the Tetrahedron - 35 minutes assembling & subdividing the Pyraminx shape - 20 minutes extracting & Creating the Sticker Objects Texturing & Rendering Time: 35 Minutes - 20 minutes on Texturing & Materials - 15 minutes Rendering Sources: - Pyraminx Refference: Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyraminx - Wood Textures: 3D Total Free Texture & Refference Library - http://freetextures.3dtotal.com/ - Sticker Textures: Procedurally built bump & color mapping inside 3dsMax The Pyraminx - a puzzle toy similar to the Rubik's Cube: |

"Post TWO images per entry which must be no larger than 1280x1024 pixels in either landscape or portrait format with a file size of no more than 195k." you have three for every entry so far.. be a shame that bioshock model is cool.. i like it.. not a fan of the game mind.. it just didnt inspire me.. but still the models cool..

grafi - A Warm welcome to the forums and what a cool entry to start off with, some tricky but very clever geometry there, great entry.
rocneasta - I'm gonna allow you're entry i'm thinking I might amend the rules for an "optional" 3rd image...... we will see on the next one, these challenges are mine and I make the rules ![]()

i did it only for clarity - but you can always make it with wire plus beauty/clay. If you do the beauty post it instead of clay, if not then just clay - i like the space, cause in many examples seeing topology is impossible. Especially if there are many objects - hence my 4 angles of camera for every challenge
