Why is it that people out there keep trying to rip off artists..

i mean sh1t i just was chatting to some guy about a project.. one that would have me working f*ck loads of hours for.. and for some dumb ass reason.. he thinks that its warrents that model is only worth like 200 pound..

i mean.. at £200 a model... for an f1 car.. this years.. not last years where there is reference.. its a F*cking joke..

that means.. roughly.. when you work it out..

you spend 6 hrs.. getting reference and building the base template..
you spend anothr 8 - 12 hours building the actual mesh..
you spend another 8 hours or so.. doing all the finer details...

thats... at best 26hrs.. of work...

and then you have to go onto Uv unwrapping.. as apprentaly thats part of the budget as well..

and lets face it.. its takes ages to uv at times..

5 - 6 hours unwrapping..

so in total you spent 32 hours building a car..
and earn £200 pound..

as these c*nts always wanna work in dollars and euros.. which lets face it.. are crap currencies right now.. the pounds slaughters both of them...

(technically through the amounts of money you bring and the hours you work.. your better off not taking the project.. as you earn just as much on job seekers allowance.)..

sh1t.. i just thought about this a bit more... at this price structure.. you;d actually be better off getting a job at mcdonalds... as it pays just about the same per hour..

and lets face is p1ss easy to do..

i mean come on.. why do people.. go out get an education.. spends months on end.. practising and getting the techniques down right.. only to end up working for the same salary as a mc donalds workers... its just not on..

your solution sell it to the client and then place it on turbosquid and/or some other market. Don't sign any contracts that forbid you to do so, and you might get your money's worth

Ough and yea, don't forget to do a **** awesome job on the beauty render sending it to the F1 manufacturer, owner and the team along with a sentence "I can do so much more"

that means that i work for F*ck all.. and then.. have to upload it to a place that then takes 40% of my sale.. no thanks.. i mean that means.

that from £200.. i'm now earning like £160 or something...

i mean £160.. for nearly a week and halfs work.. be serious..how the hell can anyone make a living on that.. i would be better off working at mc donalds..

I don't think it's that people are out there to rip off artists. I think people are out to get things done as cheaply as possible, and they don't realize, or do not have the knowledge that an F1 car to AAA game standard is about a months work.

If someone owes you money, go to citizens advice, and take out a CCJ against them. They will soon pay up, as having a CCJ means that they will have bad credit, which is the most damaging thing you can do to any company, as most companies rely on having good credit.

My friend worked at Pinewood studios on a cartoon series, they were well over budget, and ended up firing all the artists, without paying them. He took out a simple CCJ (about £80) and the company paid up, including the £80 as it's taken from them. All the other people who got fired didn't bother, and they didn't get diddly.

what dont help.. is that alot of artist are so desperate for the work.. or the bit of experience.. that they sell the rest of us down the river with them..

as companies get used to the idea of paying bugger all to artist.. so when you come along as say i aint working for that.. it ends up being that your out of work.. again and still.. you know.. its a real pain..

Well then I believe 3DT should take steps to ensure that any job postings are verified. Maybe even have a recruitment section, rather than just letting people post whatever they want, without any sort of vetting procedure.

yeah i agree.. a recruitment section would be an awesome thing..
at least then.. you get a full job brief.. with cost and budget and time frame.. all that when you first look at the role thats available..

as currently people do just put up what they want..

You can only have a viable union, if all the members are of equal statute. However a more skilled artist can do something quicker, and therefore could always undercut the other artists out there.

If this job you mention gets an artist, and he gets paid £200, then the outcome will be poor, and the company will learn the most valuable lesson of "you get what you pay for", or another way to say it "You pay peanuts, you get monkeys".

yeah i've often believed in that you pay cheap you get cheap..

but that aint the case anymore.. there are so many selling themselves as cheap whores.. that you know.. you pay cheap.. and get good or great at the moment.. its sickening...
