The Anatomy Class

Hey Guys,

This is ours latest self-promotion job based on the famous Rembrandt’s "The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp" paint.

The concept is about a group of robots studying a human corpse, understanding its physiology and willing to someday become a human being.

For that, we created several robots with different "evolutional" levels and human part implants.

Soon a making-of this picture!! Follow our blog

I hope you enjoy it!!

Best.

Gui.

Really great concept supported with technical expertise.
Great use of popular references for the different robots it´s I see some Bicentennial Man, some Daft Punk, some Artificial Intelligence and maybeStar Trek? But definitely my favourite is Rembrandt.

Hurry up the "Making of" please.

Oh wow this is genius!

The initial idea is amazing and it is executed really well, I was able to see the resemblance to the original work directly.

Great job

Hey Guys,

Thanks a lot for the comments!

Here goes some material produced during the process, and we´re organizing for a tutorial.

I hope you enjoy it!

The original picture

Our concept image
Using the same composition and lighting, we´ve created this image to guide us during the role process.

The Robots
Most of the robots were inspired from movies, and after watching Daft Punk´s "Electroma" movie, which shows a journey of two robots trying to find his own humanity.

For the other robots, we´ve used references from "The Bicentennial man", "Articifial Intelligence", "I-robot" and even "Snake" from the Mortal Kombat video-game.

The Photos
As we had a short time, instead of modelling the human parts we chose use real photos.
After finished the 3d lighting process we´ve made some studio shots using the same lighting set-up.

We´ve also used a royalt free image bank picture for the corpse´s dissection.

Soon, some more making of pictures.

Thanks
