what? Who _doesn't_ have a webpage nowadays?

But seriously, I think having one allows you to present your work in a way without restrictions. With sites like Facebook or Flickr, there's always the (perhaps remote) possibility that their services will go away, or your work affected by some license agreement when you upload an image or video.

I dislike things which I can't control or predict (which is why I spend 10 hours figuring out _how_ to do something consistently, that _could_ be done in 5 hours, just in case I need to do it again) - using sites like LinkedIn, Flickr, FB is good imo, but should be used to drive people, clients and employers to your personal site where you can show your work without it being lost in either a sea of other people's work, or near a link which could distract them (e.g. someone else's work in a section of the page entitled "Similar to this artist" or "People who viewed this page also viewed...")

One of the reasons I made mine was in the hopes that I'd be able to provide some kind of sticky content, like a tutorial section which I'd add to, or free models/code etc - it's a function that a LinkedIn or FB page doesn't quite emulate. (Not to say I've done this - my last post was in February)
