Wow. Dreamworks never fails to impress. Absolutely LOVE the sandman. And comrade santa is awesome haha. This doesn't look like a movie made just for kids!

That is exactly what impresses me most. The trailer didn't need to have a joke every 4 seconds. There's barely anything funny in it. Instead it shows an adventure with compelling characters and incredible visuals.

About script, you mean da classical action and adventure scenario "Good vs Evil" revisited with a funky/pop'sy mantle of faery? I'm really curious about script. Western spaghetti's 100 000th? Seems big in CG and animation terms, but in a stylistic approach and about world concept, it looks like a "Funky mix" like Shrek or Bollywood power? Will see what's worth behind the image. ![]()

I disagree on the character design. they're just running with the same old dreamworks style and formula again and it's boring - again.
If their chosen style had the charm of the classic Disney style they'd be able to get away with it but it doesn't so they can't. How to train a dragon had the same problem - great film, spoiled slightly by crap character design. |

I agree with poopipe here. Dreamworks character design has always been spotty at best. They usually have fantastic concept artwork, but it always fails to translate to the end product.
And this: Quote:
I take that back, Kung Fu Panda was pretty well done. How To Train Your Dragon was mediocre. But the rest are downhill from there. |

i think character Design is one of the biggest issues in 3D Films. I hated nearliy every Look of any Character, except for the Animatrix and the Final Fantasy movies. I donīt know what it it, that it seems to be impossible for Filmmakers, to come up with some decent looking characters.
oh, the christmas carol with Jim Carrey was ace though, but movies like Toy Story, Incredibles, Madagascar... meh... every character looks childish - and that makes it unattractive for me to watch. even when its an animated comic strip, i want somewhat believable proportions and looks, and not all that "we all look the same because our faces were carved out of potatoes" look.
