fonts - 3ds max [2010, 2012]

I had problems today with a font i was trying to use in max

After installing the font max didn't recognise it so i tried:

restart of windows
restart of max
copying font to c:\program files\autodesk\3ds max 2012\fonts
restarting max
configuring user paths
restarting max
...

Finally the trick was in changing the font from otf (open type) to ttf (true type) and there was this simple and effective website (amongst others that failed) http://www.freefontconverter.com/

If anyone has a similar issue, or will have, i hope this solves the problem as it did for me.

Never knew that max only handles ttf fonts
