I just started using 2012, is this what I have to look forward too?
Thanks Sathe, getting everybody all pumped about 2012, only to find out, it's still 3ds Max. |

well i have been using it for a year now every day at the company.. and it came down to using 2010 at home instead.. becouse that way the work is much less stressful.
2012 has some good features, but if you're a game developer, just forget all the fancy new viewport shaders like real time ao (whitch would be great to use) since nitrous viewport render cannot handle any *.fx direct x shader. so you must go back to dear old dx rendering and so those features will be disabled.. and without nitrous putting an unwrap modifier onto a model takes 5 seconds with an i7 processor and 8gigs of ram.. bah! but don't worry coz deleting or collapsing it will take 5 seconds again and my favorite thing: usually if you update a texture, it won't appear.. you'll see you old texture instead, there are some tricks that work to update your texture manually, but sometimes they crash 3ds max, or you must reopen your whole max file, or in some cases you must close 3ds and re-open it again. other favorite thingy is when you use freeform and 3ds max constantly crashes if you use the extend tool. and i could continue, just i'm getting tired.. still it has some cool features, but compared to the stress it gives you with those freaking bugs.. as you said it's still 3ds max (by autodesk) i think the fact that the header on the site has a really bright, almost white picture and white text on it tells you everything about how lame the this company is http://area.autodesk.com/3dsmax2012 (btw i checked it few weeks ago, there wasn't even drop shadow under those text, only the white text) |

tsabszy: Do you mean the texts that is over this picture? http://area.autodesk.com/userdata/pr...ATE_coffee.jpg
because thats just stupid use of text over that one =/ Sure they got a drop shadow, but not nearly as good as one would expect from a company like autodesk.
