Warrior Portrait
Hi Guys,
This is an attempt to create a realistic portrait. I've used Maya for the basemesh and Maya hair for the eyebrows. For the fine details and sculpting I've used Zbrush. I used some photo references from 3d.sk for the color maps, and projected them using Mari. I rendered using Mental ray. Hope you like it =) |

Great work, so far. Bit needs much stronger tones of color, the light on his Left needs to be Much stronger. The heat will make his skin more wet (it looks very dry). I attached a picture so you see what I mean, try to bring focus on the face ..right now mye yes wonder all over the image which makes me loose interest. If you want realism study Photography/Photographers work and think like one.
Find a picture from National Geographic and try to emulate the "Lighting". Always use a Ref image it is Vital. Good luck ![]()

Thanks for the reference
After I've posted on finished work I've kinda regretted it. I totally agree with you, and after a second look I think that there's a lot of work to be done on this image yet. I'm quite a noob in mental ray, so I'd consider this work more as a study than a finished work. Your reference is a very good one, and I'll try and see if I can get something similar!
Thanks for the tip =) Cheers |
