3ds max 2012 - envelope undo
Hey. I don't know if this should be posted here or under rigging, but it's about the skin modifier...
I'm having a couple of problems with the skin modifier. The first one is that when I undo a couple of changes to my envelope editing, this happens (see attached image "envelope undo"). The second one is about abs. effect on some (not all) vertices. It doesn't seem to do anything to them (see attached image "abs effect compare"). Thanks in advance Last edited by Avila; 22-05-2012 at 03:26 PM.. Reason: category clarification |

undo is a bit broken in skin, try to avoid using it
abs effect is garbage - use the weight tool to set weights manually |

Awesome, needed the advice. Thanks
Sucks you can't undo editing envelopes, though |

well i know this issue - its because this vert has no other bone asigned to it so when you make a abbs efect "0" - it has no where to go. asign this vert to other bone at lleast just to have a bone name in the table and it will respond to your comands.
as for abbs efect being garbage - well i'm not a supper rigger or a god in this but it works like a charm for me in all versions from 2009 to 2012. ofcourse in my pipline i use it just to refine vertex weights and most of the work is done manualy with weighting tool. |

I don't like it cos you cant see where the weights are going when you change them.

Ok, learned how to use the weight table now. If you compare weight table & tools with abbs effect, it really does suck :s (btw, it was the bone assignment issue you mentioned, paulius-st).
Thanks guys, see you around |
