Here goes something from the past few days. I'm still trying to workout a few things, but I think I am done with the main components, its pretty much done. Once again I made this one pretty much using shapes. Still experimenting with them.

An underground series of future/alien cities. I have two versions. I think I prefer version 2. If anyone has any ideas or comments before I call it finished I will appreciate it.

Version 1:

Version 2:

At the end I am settling for this version. I removed the look and feel of minerals for the buildings as I think it was misleading the scale. I am not sure how much it helped, but here it goes.

This is something submitted to an art challenge. I have added some of the intermediate steps. One thing I learned (amongst others) making this: dont start a character over a white background, its better to have some background colour and even texture.

I made a brush for the skin texture:

if you want to use it, you can download it here.

I actually also used it to make some cables in the previous image (Underground Cities) I posted.

The subject of the Challenge: Immortality.

Immortality comes naturally by been a Vampire, but it comes with a price. She still remembers herself beautiful, but the years walking the earth have paid its toll.

Something from the past few days.

I have made myself around 50 watercolour shapes with real watercolours, scanned them and I am now trying them. I want to make human faces and bodies using only this set of marks. This one here has not been fully done this way, but it was a first test. More will come ......

I started in black and white to end up applying the colour and all the watercolour marks and shapes at the end:

Two slightly different version of the final image:

Olivia Wilde (Tron)

Here is my latest work. This is an attempt at making a realistic looking portrait. For this exercise, I chose Olivia Wilde in the modern version of Tron.

Here are some intermediate images:

If you are interested, I wrote some kind of making of of the process. Just for me to remember what to do for the next one

Future Yakuza Woman

This is inspired by an image I saw of a tattooed Yakuza woman. Rather than keeping the full body tattoo, I changed it for something more electronic.

A bit of a making of together with the colour palette I used on the top left corner. I saw on a magazine a nice way of defining the palette and tried it with this image. The end result for the colour looks nothing like it is in the palette, but that is only because of some hue, and colour corrections applied along the way (you can see a bit more here).
