Good question i've ran into this myself and rather stupidly in the past have had to make a hi poly version of whatever i'm texturing to get the UV's looking right.

i didn't have any problems with stretching really to be honest

couple o minor bits but i fix them by hand

its not in the film mate it was in one shot but the shot didnt make it into the film so thats why i modeled this gun thingy

Yeah cool, I think OBJ would be good if everyone wants to open it up, I reckon that's one of the best to be read by all softwares.

I'm modelling something right now... i'm in the mood again to model summat

had some issues today

but back on track now so still got 1 or 2 bits left to texture

then final tweaking

im gonna put shaders on the wires.
