Came up with a pretty cool way to create the popcorn by the way.
I start off with a very low poly sphere.... say 12 segments then I add a displacement deformer as a child of the sphere, then add a noise shader into said displacer and hey presto it gives you multiple different shapes of popcorn, the next step after that is to make about 5-10 different ones slightly tweaking the noise shader each and every time then group the whole lot into a null and then into a cloner, then you can choose to use dynamics and fill a box/object whatever with popcorn, or you can use an emitter and catch them in a more natural way..... that way you don't have to both with a random effector of anything..... i'm pretty sure this method would work well for rock generation too. Once you've got all the popcorn you need they will be placed perfectly and no intersecting faces or anything so you can choose to group into a hypernurbs to smooth them out or convert to one single poly mesh and then smooth. More updates soon

ha ha : "Déjà view". Now that would be a great name for a movie theatre only showing old films which people might have already seen.

Cheers matey, I'll keep modelling things until I feel the scene is right......anything to delay the texturing part even though I'd say I'm good at creating textures in photoshop I'm terrible in laying out correct UV's......I dunno what I'm doing wrong but I always optimise my points in my geometry & everything looks great then I go into bodypaint 3D, run the UV wizard & regardless of of the projection mapping of the UV's I go for they always look like crap with so many different little pieces of geometry strewn all over the place.
Maybe there's some fundamental part or step i'm missing that's failing me at the moment, I dunno I just don't know enough about the software really to get better......but also there's not really a desire to want to get to know the software better either, I might look into a standalone osx UV app (if any exist) I know there's loads for windows machines....who knows.....I'll worry about it when I get to properly texturing things up though......I can always ask here if I need help ![]()

yeah texturing and uv's was the bain of my life for a long time too, then one day i woke up and i could do it lol. like you said though mate there's prob i fundamental error going on there somewhere and you just need to find a tut somewhere that has that fundamental thing init then ya on ya way
wouldn't know what to suggest in terms of uv apps im happy with max's uv tools maybe try max ![]() |

Don't take my word for it, but maybe the UV tools for Cinema are just bad.
I at least have never been able to model in it, and I am amazed how good you are with it, and from what I've seen, the UV tools aren't any good either. Personal opinion of course, but my point is, maybe it isn't you that's the problem? I can show you a real quick way to UV properly in Max, Maya, Softimage, or Blender even, if you're interested.

I HATE my voice it sounds like I have a cold all the time, the deep breathing is Asthma, I swear to god some night's I sound like Darth Vader. I'm not sure if they are good enough.......... I didn't know until I made these how much I lisp slightly on my C's & S's but hey ho ![]() First Vid About Garage Band Second Vid Playing In Cinema 4D Just remember neither are proper tutorials it's just me dicking about in both apps to see if I can do it.

Nice to see u working on some tuts CG, I think that if u want them to work well u need to be a bit more specific and direct when u talk. Sometimes u would get lost and not tell me what’s going on, so I got confused.
Its difficult making tuts at the start but I think after doing it for a while u get used to talking... Love British accents to ![]() |
