Exclamation Serious Max Linking Glitch- Help!!

All hell broke loose! What the heck is going on in this image. Whenever I link a joint to a limb in my robot's body, his joint will flip out when I rotate it. I've tried almost anything- has anyone seen this before?

I've tried restarting max, deleting and recreating the link, and moving pivots. Nothing seems to be helping right now, and I can't figure out why my objects get skewed when I rotate them. What the heck is going on here?!

Here's another horrible example of my confused misery. All I did was rotate the pivot point, and it ruined my mesh again.

Well the good news is the problem no longer exists on isolated objects, but when linked, stuff is still on the fritz.

**Edit** More specifically, it doesn't affect the foot and ankle when they are linked together. But when the ankle is then linked up to the shin, then everything goes hay-wire

well..I don't know if this can help..but have you tried throwing a reset xform modifier and then collapsing the stack..It seems to me that you've done some non uniform scale to your objects..
also try to disable scale inheriting between parents and childs..I hope it helps...
