Vanitas Still Life

Hello again, Threedy! It's been a while. Due partially to laziness, and the rest to an inability to complete my 3d projects, I haven't posted anything in quite some time. Now though, I actually have something worthy of posting!

Some of you might recognize the style I'm trying to emulate here, but for those that don't, here's a handy wikipedia page. My main inspiration for this/person whom I ripped of is Kornél Ravadits. He was in one of 3dTotal's Digital Art Masters books a while back, and his still life is far better than anything I could ever do. Hats off to him and all those other brilliant artists for making me cry myself to sleep at night.

The textures are hand painted, except for the background, which I got from CgTextures. The skull was sculpted entirely in Zbrush, the lemons and flowers were modeled in Blender then sculpted in Zbrush, and everything else was made in Blender. This was rendered with Blender's Cycles render engine, which is a pretty nifty thing, and a lot of fun to tinker with. Unfortunately, it doesn't yet support SSS shading, so that was done in Blender's internal engine, then composited on top.

Feel free to comment, suggest, criticize, and/or jeer at me.

Oh, and I realize the lemon looks like crap. I'll fiddle with the shaders...

Nice work, over all it looks quite convincing.
Lemon needs a bit more love though

Yeah, everything looks great, superb work on the theme and lighting and that skull is great..... the lemon does look good but looks painted and added in with the rest of the scene last minute kinda thing.

I do like it though
