MECANO - A manga style drawing; work in progress...
Please, excuse me for my very bad english ^___^;
I'll tell you a secret: "Your hands are jerks !" What I mean: they have no brains, many people let their pencils float on the white sheets, praying unconsciously that divine inspiration guide them ... Sometimes it works ... But most of the time: No ^ 0 ^ The very first thing to remember is : to have an idea before to put his pencil on the paper! We must accept the idea of wasting time upstream ... to gain time downstream. For us, "artists", are always in a hurry! Our dream is to have a USB cable connecting our brain to a printer! Maybe in a few years, who knows? but in the meantime, we must content ourselves with our little hands ^ ^ So, here's a sketch starting from a simple idea: A female mechnic, sexy, cute and mischievous ^ 0 ^ ![]() The first draft and still very rough. But it gives you the direction of your idea. More importantly, it destroys the fear of the blank, no landmarks, no guides from the paper. ![]() Some people draw details by details. Some other draw a "set". In my opinion, there is no "right way", just one that you will comfortable, while ensuring efficiency. For example, in mathematics: 2 +2 = 4 We do not ask you your opinion, you just learn it, and that's it. But in "art", 2 +2 = ... what you want! Billions of possibilities are available to you to achieve a result that is not "true", Such an ultimate answer that everyone will agree. No, you will reach a result that outside of your technical skills crude drawing (anatomy, proportions, perspective, etc ...) where not to please him who sees your work. And if so, to which "twists where reason"? After all, in the 80 to 90, many were those claiming that the manga style called "academic" was ugly. Today there is a reference in terms of pop culture! Same, taking for example, Impressionist painting who was vilified in 19th century, and which today is a key period in the history of Western art. How to "judge" a work impartially? The technique? The time of his achievement context? Fashion? The emotion is necessarily subjective freeing? Frankly, I do not know. I just do my best. And it's not bad, right? ^ 0 ^ ![]() I start to dwell on some details, component like the costume. the idea is to make a sort of futuristic jumpsuit but sexy (and not vulgar ^ ^) ![]() Some people like to push the bottom sketch, Personally, I like to let the ink fill spontaneously places inaccurate. By cons, I did not ink a set, but elements by elements. I also added some glasses at the last moment to to give a little "nerd touch" to my mechanic ^ ^ ![]() Between the shorts and thigh, I added a fabric "Fleece" since leaving the thighs to the air seemed ultimately a bit too daring. The character is a young girl after all, so: take it easy ! ^ ^ Also view the differences between the sketch and the final ink, such as the right forearm drawing, the pockets of the belt, etc. ... some details come only when the ink so. The aim is that the latter is not a simple implementation, but also a spontaneous exercise creative ^ ^ ![]() At this time of the drawing, I quickly created on Photoshop a gear, and that will help me for the decorative element of the background. Once finalized, I print and decal. ![]() The ink is finished! The gear is raised and inked so it is regular, but with "human touch" (the fact that he damaged the hatching + help in that ^ ^) Finally, you may have noticed, I also changed at the last moment orientation of the big key that holds the character. Indeed, in the starting pose, his perspective did not fit with the character ... ![]() A small adjustment of the levels of white and blacks, and the drawing is finished ... Maybe for a color version coming?? Last edited by KARA; 24-05-2012 at 05:46 PM.. |

I think about it, but perhaps I will ink another version. With no hatches for example.
