Setschaos - Threedy Circus - Balloon Animals!
I always stop by this comp thread for inspiration, the competitors here are awesome. So I thought to myself about this comp: "it's such a shame that there aren't more entries..." So I figured I'd enter my first concept art competition with this simple idea and hopefully I can make it evolve into a nice polished piece.
Now, I have no formal training what so ever, so feel free to poke fun at my perspective!

Tonight's update so far, working in some details into the clowns face.

Brought up the sharpness to add a painterly effect. I still haven't decided if I like it that sharp or not. I think I will do a color test to see...
Also on the to do list as of now is to fix that right forearm...

hey, it will be interesting to see how this painting evolves. the extreme angle and perspective give the composition some energy. I also like some of the things you are doing with textures and so on. the style has sort of a children's storybook feel, which I think works for the subject.
as far as your more finished stages on the clown, I agree with you that the right arm needs some work. I can see how getting that kind of foreshortening on the upper arm going into the elbow could be difficult, especially with that dynamic angle you're using. anyway, good luck and keep going! |

Thanks Nucron:
Not much progress here. I suppose I could try to wrap this up. Here's the color and final draft of the clown. May need to make some tweaks to it as the picture evolves, but I'm happy with it so far.
