Cute But Vicious
Sculpting Challenge #1 Subject – Cute but Vicious ![]() Thread Naming: Your Name – Cute but Vicious Keep all questions in this thread While strolling down the street just the other day, I came across two baby squirrels playing in a tree. It was the cutest thing I had ever seen. I proceeded to work my way closer, hoping to get a better look. Slowly, I crept up onto the cuteness. Guess I got a little too close. Before I knew it, one of the squirrels had shot out of the tree onto my head, biting at my ears, confiscating chunks of beautiful flesh. The other reached behind his back, smiled and leisurely pulled out a nut cracker. I lost sight of him as I focused my attention on the squirrel that was trying to fornicate with my eye socket. Tossing him to the ground, I see squirrel tail working its way into my pants leg. He was working his way up my leg. Forced to protect myself, I began to deliver several serious blows to the squirrel’s tiny head. It only pissed him off. He reached his destination and proceeded to use his shinny new tool. I awoke in the hospital with an eye patch and one nut short of a pair. Trust me when I say, squirrels are vicious. DUE DATE: January 22nd, 11:59 pm GMT - SUNDAY Idea: Take something, anything cute and make it vicious. Basically show us the bad side of adorable. Pedestals/Stands: You do not have to create one, but it would be nice if you did. You can go as crazy as you want, or keep it basic. Restrictions: -Joint entries are prohibited for this challenge -Your entry must be specifically created for this challenge. Do not use any pieces from previous personal works. -You will be supplying your own base mesh for the competition, from which you will start sculpting. You can create your base mesh in any application (3dsmax, Maya, XSI, Cinema4D, Zspheres in Zbrush, etc) using any technique. Don’t use any pre-made base meshes, you must build it specifically for this challenge. -There are no lighting restrictions. -You must create a W.I.P Thread to show off your work in progress. Final Pictures: Required In The Final Post (1 post per entry): - 1 x Winning shot (render or screen grab). This image should consist of your object depicted in its most awesome angle. - 1 x Beauty shot of your object (render or screen grab). Feel free to put multiple angles of your object or just one big version or your object on this page. You are free to do whatever post effects you like on this image. Be careful how you do this though, simple is often better. It’s up to you. - 1 x Construction shot of your base mesh and at least 3 shots (screen grab) of your sculpt as you work from beginning to end. Feel free to put more if you like, it’s up to you. - Concept Sheet (if you have one) Good luck everyone! BiG ToE. |

Hey quick question.
I have a cool idea, but unfortunately i couldn't draw it out to save my life, but i have a friend who is a great 2d artist, is it ok if i let him draw out my idea? It wouldn't be my drawing, but definitely my idea. That way i can make a bit more proper Wip thread. |

yeah, it's ok to have someone else draw your idea, what would not be ok, is having someone else sculpt your idea.

Really cool prompt, and pretty challenging if you ask me... takes a lot of thought to successfully convey two character traits that are visually incongruent.

Is it ok to do 2 characters, to have them in a small scene? First one will be more in focus.
