Thanks for the comments
![]() Pablo: I don't think the polycount is too high because games like UT2003 uses about 1500 polys. And also this was done for mod for HL2, and I have seen weapons with +3000 polys for this game. I'm trying to texture it, but I suck in texturing. And I'm starting to think that Corel Photo Paint isn't the best program for texturing... ![]() |

UT 2k3 has no weapon that exceeds 500 polys and half-life 2 weapons are about 1000.

i love the gun, i own a sig... it's a sig p2009 pro model. keeps me safe living here in the ghetto. oh well, nice modeling, i am currently attending the Savannah college of art and design and am a junior in the interactive and game design track. i recently took a class that required a weapon model and i believe our max poly count was 800 poly's. 1200 is a bit high but it is possible. probably wouldn't use that many polys though on a basic handgun though, maybe on something larger like an m-16 or an other larger weapon. Target polycount for HL2 weapons is about 2000 - 2500 for the weapon models developed for the game itself but it can handle more then that. Character target count is 7000 - 7500. I thin that I wouldn't really call that low poly anymore. It's starting to blend into mid poly. Like Colin McRae with its 14000 tris for the main car model. YOWZA. But as SnipaM so delicatly put...500 and 1000???...erm, no

just because a gun in HL2 can be 2000 polies, doesn't mean you should use 2000 polies for a weapon, especially one as small as a pistol.
i'd like to see a wire frame of this weapon. |

Thanks a lot for your comments
![]() I heard many time people saying things like: "just because HL2 engine handles more than 2500 polys in a weapon, this doesnt mean you should use 2500 polys in a weapon". And I really don't understand why people say this. It dosen't make any sense to use 500 polys in a weapon in the HL2 engine. I made some more models to Armed Forces HL2 mod. Here is the MRLS. (the polycount is 2300 polys) Check our website at www.nexusarts.homestead.com Last edited by Vitor; 06-10-2003 at 07:00 PM.. |

... and here is the RAH-66 Comanche. It's stills a WIP, and the polycount is 1088 polys.

those look great
![]() the reason people probably say not to use all of the 2500 polys or whatever is because it might not run as well on the lower end computers te pistol look sthe best to me so far :P |

The sam launcher is very good. The comance still looks a little too low poly imo. I am sure it'll be great when you complete it. The p220 is great but the handle looks too boxy and bulky.
