Born8th - Sea Creatures - Justakiss
Hi everyone !
I'll take part in my first challenge. Do not hesitate to post comments ! First of all, some concepts : ![]() My point of view over each of those sketches : 1 : not really scary 2 : we're not in SpongeBob, aren't we ?... 3 : looks like a worm. Teeth and sharp spikes are quiet interesting 4 : tail is ok, but tongue seems strange for a water creature 5 : quiet good but need some corrections So, this is my starting sketch for coloring. ![]() Monster is mixed with toad (arms and head), shark (mouth and teeth) and eel (tail). Swimmer is for scale and for having a second point of interest. Now I'll start coloring. My tools are The Gimp and MyPaint. |

Flat colors
Hi there.
So this is an update with first colors. ![]() I added a right and left view too. Well, I'm not sure but the body looks much like a toad in right view rather than the final sketch... Anyway, I'll continue that way. I enlarged the frame on top because I want to draw some rays to shine down on the creature. Now let's go for shading and lighting ! |

nice concept, if going to ink it I suggest on the outer line/border make it a little thinner, when you do that the subject as a whole pop and the linner line look great in detail.

Hi all.
Thanks washka and M_Cederstrom for your comments. Here is the shading version. As advised, I tried to have thinner outer lines for the swimmer than the monster. So the swimmer looks slimmer and smaller than the creature. ![]() Due date approaching, so I have to hurry to post my final entry ! See you soon. |

Just one question (it's the first time I take part on a challenge here) :
where should the final entry be posted : in my own thread or in the "Final Entry - Sea Creature" thread created by BiG ToE-3DT ? Last edited by Born8th; 18-02-2012 at 10:47 PM.. |
