Max 2012 - MMB pan
hey downloaded the student version of Max 2012.
When I try to pan, my cursor jumps to my second monitor (which is primary), meaning that it'll pan off the viewport. If I use the max window on my primary monitor it works fine. Is there some jiggery pokery to get it to work well on dual screens? Or does it sound like a corrupt install? -- edit, sorry discovered the dual screen issue whilst typing (thought it was a MMB issue, hence the title) and posted too quickly. Thanks! ![]()

Again sorry, because I discovered it was a dual screen issue midway through writing, I thought I'd just continue writing without looking it up *whistle*
I switched main and secondary display around in windows and it works - the issue is that Max doesn't like the negative coordinates if your primary display (which has 0,0 coordinates in top left corner) is situated to the right of the secondary display.

also a cause of jumping MMB pans is when a mouse supports "sidewards scrolling"
just map the left and right scroll option to the MMB function in the driver settings of your mouse

Thanks Rachel. I thought it might be this, but it happened also with my wacom (which I use primarily for modelling, albeit in Maya). Still, hope it's useful in case anyone else has the same issue
