Fire in 3ds max 2011

Hi there,

I want to try to make some fire like in the movie Ghost Rider in 3ds max for a Logo, so the logo should burn like the skull in the image below.

I have tried it with FumeFX at work but I think I am to stupid for it, have never tried fume before. Is this possible to make this logo like the skull in the image with 3ds max?

Thanks for reading guys :-)

They are possibly a little out of date, but the tutorials on these sites should show you what's possible

Maybe it would be easier to make it in Photoshop, what do you guys think?

fume fx is your best bet if you have a skull model already
you can use opacity maps to burn certain areas of your models not to difficult either

Thanks guys and sorry for the late reply, I did it all with Photoshop later for this client work and he did like it so of course want to show it to you guys

So first i made a 3d object of this logo for other perspectives and later just playing with fire textures and Photoshop :-)

I hope you like it.

Looks good, and I would also use photoshop for this kind of stuff if it is for still image.
For me that would be ALOT faster and more controll.

But if you need it to me animated I would go for fume or some plugin for max

If you want to have it animated, and don't have or don't want to do it with FumeFX, then the fire tutorial on Allan McKays website is definitely worth looking at.
