Brushes for Skin Texturing

I am in the process of painting my color maps for a character's face. I was curious if anyone had a preference on photoshop brushes to use.

Also, is it a must that i buy a tablet to paint with? I find it difficult at times to paint with my mouse.

Thanks!

He and welcome to threedy!

I can't recommend using a tablet enough. Ut it does take a bit of time to get used too, because of the hand-eye coordimation. But if you decide to buy one, get a wacom (prferably an intuos(could even find a used one or a older model on e-bay real cheap), but their Bamboos are quite good also).

With custom brushes, you should try googling and trying out different ones, and see which suit you. But I find that the best brushes are those you make yourself.

Also, read up on techniques regarding skin texturing (youtube tutorials, googling, etc).

It most probably is. Wacom is keen on keeping things up to date. I have a Bamboo from 2008 to have on the go, and I haven't run into troubles with it yet.

And my point is: if you have a Bamboo and feel comfortable with it, then there's little need to buy a Intuos, especially if the money is tight.

Yes, all I had to do was download the driver. Thanks!

I've got an intuos I bought in 2000 that still works and I'm far from the only one - no need to worry about wacom legacy driver support
