Hi mate,
I watched your reel and you got some good stuff there, keep it up!. I have some feedback on the reel itself: at the 1st 20 seconds, there just too many cuts, its very confusing. its feel to me that you want to show everything you have but in the end, i feel too confused to focus. another example is in 2:27-2:29 you made tons of cuts there. the final result is confusing and flickers. you can just show 1-2 full shots of the skateboard animation and that's it! my tip for you is show only the best things you think you have, make the hard choices and grade your work, then cut out the lowest grades of the reel. you don't need a 3 minute reel, 1 minute is enough to show your skills. hope it helped! keep up the good stuff coming! :-)

The idea behind the quick cuts were... 1. The first 20 seconds to show to any future employer the range of skills, quickly before they get bored and switch off : D And 2. To go to the music which I now know hasn't worked as well as I wanted. This is my first reel and I'v taken alot from it, meaning my second reel will be a lot slower, shorter and more specified, amongst other things. Cheers for the feedback : ) |
