Maya crash PLEASE HEL: Attempting to save in C:/Users/vladivpg/AppData ...
hope that someone has had a the same or a similar problem with Maya at rendering time:Fatal Error. Attempting to save in C:/Users/vladivpg/AppData/Local/Temp/vladivpg.20120503.2242.ma // Maya exited with status 1 I use to have it before with the previous versions of Maya all the way from 2010 to 2012 and I never managed to figure out what is the cause of it. Until now I have maybe more than 3000 crashes with this error message, it is about to ruin every single project that I have done with Maya. All the software that I use is legal. I tried to cleanup my scene: topology, UVs ... basically everything that is included with mesh cleanup tool and optimize scene size I got no warnings when I run render diagnostics. I turned off the triple buffering of my video card and I did tried to delete the windows prefs and maya.env ... folders in order to revert Maya to its defaults settings but there is no results. I am rendering with Mental Ray and I can upload my render settings and if someone can understand it I can also upload my last render log.txt file too. I got a fresh installation of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit with Maya 2013 student license my computer parametars are Dell Precision 7400 Intel Xeon 3.40 GHz Nvidia Qadro FX 4600 8 GB ECC memory |

I did reinstall my OS many times but that is not the problem. And It does the same on my other two computers but because they have less memory installed and 32 bit OS I was hoping that 64 bit Operation System and more memory would solve the problem but unfortunatelly that was not the case. It really help a little bit because at least I was able to render the scene about 10 times before the problem started again and again usually a little bit before the render accomplish the final gather calculation.

Looks like permissions. try running maya as administrator or changing the temp directory

Yes I read something like that in another forum and I did try the to run the program as you are sugesting but it didn't help. The second thing that you are saying sounds very interesting but I dont know if is posible to make Maya to use another folder instead the temp folder and if so I also have no idea how I can make it. I mean what do I have to do because I never saw something like that in the settings neither have I heard for someone who has done something like that. So it will be very helpful if you can be a little bit more precise about the process of changing the temp directory with another folder.
By the way I started a mental rey troubleshooting guide that I found in the Autodesk website and I was able to render my scene without the materials so far. So that's something even if it looks like a different issue than the temp folder administrator permissions. Today I will continue to add my shaders one by one and hopefully I will be able to find out where exactly the problem is. But nevertheless I could not find out on Autodesk website anything about this type of error messages that I have and since I have thousands of them I will be glad to hear what you are suggesting about solving the problem. Gentlemen
Sirs,
I get these all the time. No amount of reinstalling, configuring, or setting adjustments will fix this. This is simple a software crash related to Maya losing logical in the math behind what you're doing. HOWEVER... These files are recoverable 80% of the time. Save that location that maya prints out. Go to your C:\Users directory.. Double click the path bar at the top of the explorer window.. it will highlight like a URL bar. Erase the path and type in exactly what maya printed out for you STOPPING after **/Temp If all goes well when you hit enter you should be inside that temp folder and you should see a **date**.ma file that will match what maya reported before it crashed. I suggest renaming this file to something more on the lines of.. CrashRecovery.ma or something of the sort.. Simply load maya and attempt to load this file after copying it to your scenes directory.. 80% of the time maya will open it and be at the stage just before it crashed. Sometimes it will not and the file is dead. I have heard talk of opening the .ma file in a text editor and trying eliminate the last few lines of code if it doesn't work, but i've never tried it. Good luck. Stop reinstalling, it isn't going to stop this from happening. Work smarter and save more often. |

1. Have you tried deleting your Pref folder and let Maya create a new one?
2. Create a new Project and redirect the render to go to the new project. 3. Are you rendering to an external hard drive that is full? 4. Do a ram check and see if you have some bad ram. Sean |
