Rackham Troll
Hi guys, I've just finished this model inspired by a miniature made for the tabletop game Confrontation.
Some minor modeling, retopoing and UV unwrapping apart, made in Maya and 3D-Coat, the most of this model is made in Zbrush: the renders also are single pass Zbrush renders, without any compositing or color correction. For this project I tried to achieve the best render of a complete character I could make in Zbrush, to get a better knowledge of its shading and rendering system and to see if it could be used as an alternative to standard rendering packages. Thanks for watching! |

Love it, you didn't really post your final summary on the subject, do you think it can really replace external rendering packages? hehehe
I've been following your entry and shading notes over at zbrushcentral, congratulations. |

Thank you Wil_himura!
You're right, I have to tell my final summary! I think that Zbrush can make great renders and is going in the right direction, but at the moment the shader system is really difficult and awkward... the fact that you can't create new shaders, but only copy and paste shaders over existing ones is mad! And if you overwrite an important shader by mistake, the only way to get it back is to reinitialize Zbrush! Also, true raytraced reflections are missing, for this reason reflective materials always look a bit strange... Here is some stuff I made with Photoshop and After Effects. Thanks for watching! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks guys, maybe I went a bit wild with lens blur, my idea was to give those image the feel of frames took by a CG cinematic, so I kept on focus on just a spot in the image and blurred a lot everything else!
ZenMan, the closeup shots are composited in After Effects, the full figure image in Photoshop. xtrm3d, your work is awesome, good job with the models made by my friend Augusto! I took another "still", with less blur this time ![]() ![]() |
