I might jump in if time allows.
Imo the best way to learn to texture in this style is to learn to paint in this style - that's why tamara is so good. get looking at digital painting tuts and techniques if you want educating.. |

i agree! that's exactly why i don't want to jump over concepting and use others' stuff.
except i'll create my crappy ones and hoping to improve. now i don't have time to continue this project though.. but hoping to continue as planned after next week. btw this meant to be a small project for practicing. so basicly whenever you have 2 hours you can continue and see the progress. unlike when you're creatung something big and 2 hours of work doesn't count as much. |

ahh, you guys are right, need to draw a concept for the next weapon..

it's more to do with being able to paint all that detail on in the diffuse and keeping it sharp than designing your own weapons - it certainly won't hurt to work off one of those concepts since they're a ****** good target to aim for

Great idea. Really need to practice texturing and love only diffuse stuff.
Gonna go for the simple axe you showed tsabszy. will start with it tommorow.

what? when did we claim concepting doesn't count?
Cordero actually those jewels look cool! my only problem is with the wooden parts. they are kinda like textures put there, instead of hand painted stuff. forget using textures, just try to paint it there i think it won't hurt if you create this 1rst weapon in your style, but if you really want to "step out of the box" as some others said, then you'll need to do some more radical change. try to experiment, but it won't move you forward if you try the old "tryed and tested" methods you got used to :P just sayin' a little update on the concept. i hope these would be cool after the 100th one.. again for now i'm much more interested in the style rather than creating mind blowing design. i call it finished, coz now i feel if i spend more time on it, it will only get worse ![]() |

gonna leave the tablet out from this one
buut thanks that will come in handy later on buut here is the second version.. trying to manually paint veins and stuff is it any better?

you'll have a pretty hard time without tablet mate
that's a challange to master only diffuse texturing without it! it's a lot better now, at some areas yeah. just want to see less black parts :P they actually don't help you. maybe it would be better to put the basic colors will go there or at least some brighter color. in the end it would be better not to use black, but colorful gradients even at darker parts ![]() |
