Evolution
Game Art Challenge #16 Subject – The Evolution ![]() Thread Naming: Your Name – Evolution Keep all questions in this thread With all this talk about the end of the world, the smartest scientist gathered to create a super human cure in preparation for what may come. This potion of sorts, was supposed to be able to shield the human body from any and all viruses Mother Nature could throw at us. It was supposed to be the end all to viral based deaths. They were wrong. The one thing those scientist didn’t account for, Mother Nature’s ability to adapt. She doesn’t play by our rules, she makes her own. The Mayans weren’t entirely wrong. The world as we know has come to an end. In an attempted to save lives, mankind doomed the world. Now all life on Earth has changed, Evolved, into something, different. All animals, all insects, all humans, nothing is what we are use to. The Evolved ones run things now. Due Date: Sunday February 17th 11:59pm GMT Idea: So here’s the thing, the theme is evolution, what you decide to evolve, is up to you. You can create a human type character, an animal of any kind, insects, or, for you environment types, make a “pedestal” environment that shows what you think the world looks like in this new age. If you want to go bigger than a piece of a city, go for it, but keep the due date in mind when coming up with an idea. Poly limit: 12,000 Tris Total. You can do whatever you want with these, just don’t get carried away and don’t exceed the 12,000 Tri Limit. Remember, the limit tells you where to stop, there is no minimum, so use as much of the limit as you see fit. If 12,000 tris is too much for you, use 5,000, or 3,000. It’s ok, I won’t mind. Textures: -1 x 1024 Color Map -1 x 1024 Reflection Map -1 x 1024 Specular Map -1 x 1024 Specular Color Map -1 x 1024 Normal Map -1 x 1024 Bump Map -1 x 1024 Opacity (transparency) Map -1 x 1024 Glow map -1 x 1024 Glossiness map. You can not chop it up into multiple smaller textures. Textures can be hand-painted or you can use photographic sources. Do what you do. Pedestals/Stands: You do not have to create one, but if you do, understand that there is no texture or tri limit. You can go as crazy as you want, or keep it basic. Restrictions: -Joint entries are OK for this challenge. You can work with a concept artist, that’s it. You must do all modeling yourself, that includes any and all sculpting. -Your entry must be specifically created for this challenge. Do not use any pieces from previous personal works. -There are no lighting restrictions. -All Game/Render Engines are allowed. -You must create a W.I.P Thread to show off your work in progress. -If you submit a final entry, you must also vote when the time comes or your entry will be disqualified. Final Pictures: Required In The Final Post (1 post per entry): -1 A link to your W.I.P. thread. - 1 x Winning shot. This image should consist of your subject depicted in its most awesome angle. - 1 x Beauty shot of your subject. Feel free to put multiple angles of your subject or just one big version or your subject on this page. You are free to do whatever post effects you like on this image. Be careful how you do this though, simple is often better. It’s up to you. - 1 x Construction shot of your subject. Feel free to put multiple wire frame shots or just one big wire frame shot on this page. It is up to you. - 1 x Texture sheet that includes all your used sheets squeezed into "one" sheet. - Concept Sheet (if you have one) Prizes: (4 entries required) 1st Place Prize: £30 worth of 3DTotal downloadable products. This can include any 3DTotal ebooks, magazines issues, subscriptions or downloadable texture DVDs, and products can be chosen from here: http://shop.3dtotal.com/ 2nd Place Prize: £10 worth of 3DTotal downloadable products. This can include any 3DTotal ebooks or magazine issues, and products can be chosen from here: http://shop.3dtotal.com/ Good luck everyone! BiG ToE. |

“pedestal” environment - would be anything that fits on this?

in the case of the environment, the pedestal would be the environment. Something like this:

I had in mind some street scene, abandoned objects, bio weapons etc. Still trying to figure out will I have a centre focus thing in the environment or will it be just an environment - not sure yet

Good question.
I'll pop into the ideas thread and see what rocks my socks, then try and get something up this weekend. |
