Not in the slightest bit advanced and the end result is far from photoreal, looks messy as ****.
Needs to go into HDR Calibration, Tonemapping, advanced shader creation, relighting and procedural shader creation.

Alessandro Cangelosi is a skilled artist don't get me wrong. I really enjoy his tutorials on particles and simulations, he also covers a lot of render engines including less known ones that don't get a lot of attention which I think is great.
I do however think that he is trying to cover too large an area by himself and he is doing tutorials on things that he himself is not too familiar with. This is something that I see a lot on CGCookie and I believe the problem is too few authors. The main tools of CGCookie are Blender and Gimp/Photoshop. BlenderCookie and ConceptCookie has a lot of experienced authors covering a wide spectrum of the pipeline. Alessandro is the lone author of MaxCookie and ModoCookie is seemingly abandoned. I think that the CookieCrew needs to hire in some new folks for the rest of the site network and not have them all work on BlenderCookie only. |
