Realistic Model: Human Female

Ok, i know i realy should finnish that other elf, But its not turning out too well with that body. I want to practice my modeling skills anyway so i am going to attempt to make a realistic character, correct proportions etc.

i'm posting so soon so i can fix any mistakes you guys pic up.

i couldn't resize the pics or get a wire shot coz photoshop won't open. but this is the cleanest mesh i have made only 3 triangles around the nose (that i could find anyway)

side view

front view

Great! I like it! With some great texturework it will be "magnificent"

The only comment of me is that the head is in the frontview a bit to > < (I can't find the enlish word; in dutch: "te smal" ).

thanks dutchman,
i still have lots of details to add but this is the main modeling of the head finnished.

I am guessing that "te smal" or "> <" means the head isn't wide enough or too skinny. i'l look at teh ref agian. she had lots of hair and it was hard to tell how wide her head realy was.

now that i look at it, the top of the head is definately too skinny.

Yes, that's right!

I like it now even more...! Now in my opinion it looks some more organic...! My only comment nów, is that the lips (I don't know I call right; I mean, around the mouth) have to visible egdes (above the mouth; down the nose), if I were you I would push the verticles there some to the back...

Jeah... I'm back...

The same you type, I have also very often! I have also modelled very often faces, but never it looks good... Now I've reference images of my (little ) sister, to model it. Í've started with a rectangle; coverted to editable mesh, and extruding it along the picture (in front view). After that I've moved the points in the left view to the good position... Now I'm in this stadium...

But, ontopic; to make it more realistic you could maybe edit something to the nostrills. That's the only place I find a bit inrealistic (at the moment )...

Hey dutchman, no i box modeled my head, i find its easier because you can see the whole head and how it looks from start to finnish, i used to hate it but now i mainly box model.

if you have max 4 or above i suggest u use edit poly and not mesh. its personal preference but edit poly behaves much better than mesh, there are also some tools u can download that makes modeling much easier.

yeah i'l try to make the nostrils more natural thanks

Ninto: thanks

corky: yeah i saw the triangle, but triangles are not as bad as some people believe, the triangles in my mesh havent effected the smoothing much. plus i would just have to add more polys to get rid of it which would be a waste.

thanx for ur comments guys

Edit: i'l be looking out for ya sister head thread dutchman

It's looking good, but I think the ears should be moved up some and the hole/opening in the ear is too small

Looking good so far
But what I would do is the pull these verts as in da pic.
Also I would use a bit glossiness in the material to point out the contours of the surface.
Looking forward to this.

thanks for the crits guys

Rubberduck: i moved the ears up, i think they are in the correct place - about eyebrow height to the bottom of the nose, at teh moment i have just placed the ears there so i can see how it will look, i'l weld them on later.

Peter Hutton: Thanks had been playing around with the mouth for ages trying to get rid of the ****** creases, and all i had to do was move the verts out a bit I added some glossiness to it.

here is an update:

edit: i changed the pic, small update
