I am not able to make this type of texture. Please help in making. I take Raytrace, high specular (more than 200), tight glossiness (around 70), little greyish color in diffuse and specular color, and Fresnel in Reflect. Please help me i m using 3ds Max 5.

i'd say try turning off specularity completely
put a raytrace reflection in reflection channel and get an image like a photo with light and dark areas and color make a giant plane and reflect from that plane remember specularity is just reflection. in the real world specularity is just the reflection of lights back to your eye and on high poly shine objects sometimes a reflection that's strong is all you need. good luck -k

well!
adding specularity is just like a shine on the thing......
the metal type thing in the image u are showing seems to have a reflection map.......it is reflecting that thing, u wont be able to achieve exactly that result without the texture map.... but u can use more reflection maps...... raytrace traces things on the surface which are surrounding the object.........it just like a weak mirror... as kuman said, use a plane around and put a map on it, than do it without specularity.... here's a good map for the plane!
