Very nice! Great model and material. The only think I don´t like in the image is the reflection map you used. I think it´s disturbing a bit.
Anyway, it´s a wip so I´m sure you´ll make it really fine in the end!

there's two ways of doing the "hidden stuff",

1, just model the bits that you can see and use textures for any stuff that's well hidden

2, model every nut, bolt and screw

One way is quick and effective the other is very time consuming but the results can be worth it

I've fixed the rear lights and a couple of other tweaks this evening. I'll post an update when I've made some real progress hopefully I'll find a few hours to play this weekend

The "reflection map" is just the sky image and yes it will no doubt get changed, but it's a fairly neutral outdoor scene which gives a good idea of how the materials will look for the final render

Cheers for the comments guys, all noted and will no doubt be acted upon

Andy

tee hee Holo,

Assuming the ignition is switched off, the guages set to minimum.

So, no you weren't reading it wrong.

Very cool.
Looks like something James Bond would drive....
Especially with all those switches on the dash panel!
What do they do?

Qubical, not really "wasted" I agree but I'd never really intended to go to that level of detail, but with an afternoon to spare I thought "why not?" but it did get a bit silly when it got to the stage of every dial being modelled rather than texture mapped.

Honki, the switches on the dash panel, cover such things as choke, mixture control, manual advance and retard of the timing, lights, wipers, fuel pumps, ignition etc etc. They all serve a purpose (or so I am told )

Sarn, I hadn't seen your Cobra, in fact I'd only ever seen one other modelled in 3D and it was the AC model not the Shelby one.

Thanks for the comments guys, I've added a couple of tweaks this morning, not enough to justify a new image so I just updated the link on the previous one.
