Bluntly outraged
I ve been doing some cruising around the forums and I have to say I'm immensly dissapointed at the changes in peoples attitudes that I have wittnesed. It's like somhow everyone seems to forget that they were once starting out fresh and also hated when people gave bluntly rude and non constructive criticizm. I will not state names on persons who are doing these things but if u are feeling hit by reading this then you know you are one of them. I mean cmooooon. What are you thinking by ginig anwsers like "uuu that suks", "omg dude what IS that" and stuff like that. These weren't quotes just showcases of how stupid these comments can be. I really think that ppl need to get a grip on things and start to think before they blunt ppl. I'm not saying not to say that the wprk is bad, quite the opposite. If it is then the person should KNOW it's bad for their own sake but do state why it is bad and give hints on what they could do to improve your skills. I bet you that you too would be outraged if some moron stepped into your thread and gave such stupid and right out idiotic comments. A smart thing would be to make sticky posts in ALL the forums about the "rules of engegement" in posts to rid us of further stupid remarks. If a post doesn't appeal to you but you have nothing smart or helpfull to bring in the don't, get out and continue browsing til u find a place u can help.

I dunno why Jenn didnt make this thread sticky, but I think it very clearly explains the differences between constructive and non-constructive criticizm. It needs to be read by every member on threedy.
http://forums.3dtotal.com/showthread...threadid=13570 I can't say I've seen that many rude posts/comments in the creative forums - but I tend to spend more time in the help, advice, and chat section. =X I think the mods have started doing a better job at cracking down on these non-constructive comments - but you know..they can't catch em all. =/ |

I think everyone understands taht the mods can't catch them all. They are doing a fine job. I surley would hate to see this place turn into a heavy moderated place where the slightest "miss" can make u banned or such but I fear that that might happen if ppl don't better up.

If you run across those kind of comments, please report them!
Jyncus, I didn't make it a sticky for many reasons. The main one being that common courtesy is something that I expect from every human being. Another reason is that the people who most need to read it, won't. I don't mind reading harsh comments as long as they are backed up with an explaination. Why an explaination? Because I don't know you and you don't know me. For all I know the person commenting on my work may be red/green color blind or perhaps is biased towards one particular look or style that I don't like. On the other hand, maybe this person has a good eye for color or lighting or composition. Without an explaination, how can I give any weight or creedance to the comment? |

hmm yes i have noticed a few people smacking the n00bs around, which i feel is unfair altho the people who made those comments seem to be much more adult in their posting now
