I need some help. I need to light the scene, and I suck at lighting. Any tips on a simple lighting scheme would be appreciated. I tried lighting it with three lights, 2 front at 45 degree angles, and one behind with a negative value. But I don't think it looks good. Anyways, any help would be nice.

Try and find the Toy Story DVDs. They have a good section on lighting in the bonus materials.
Hear are a few things I do. 1. Use warm and cool colored lights. (warm lights bring objects to the front, cool lights push them into the background) 2. Never forget reflective light 3. It's not lighting, more like painting shadows. 4. Use a very dark complementary color(in ref. to it's Light) for the shadows. 5. Shadows have light in them to. As far as placing lights, it all depends on the scene. Here is a sample of my methods. |

Okay, I read some tutorials, and tried lighting the scene best I could. My knowledge of lighting is basic, something I plan on reading up on. Anyways, I just wanted something to paint the scene a bit better than Max default lighting, give Mabel some more depth. So here's what I came up with.

Can you post a close up of the pants...those folds look really really strange to me....like the pants are balloon-y but they stick to her ****** area and the folds should go mostly horizontally I think instead of up and down, unless the pants are cinched at the waist and stuff.

The pants are pleated on the top at the waist, and they fall in a real strange way. And they is a bulge in the pant that wraps around the back. Here is one of the refs I used. I am going to fix the ****** area.
