Architectural Interior with Brazil....

Hey Guys,

I need all of your advices and knowledge to help me make a great photorealistic shot of the next images I'll post.

I'll post what I've done so far. I hope that after your crits, you can tell me precise tips, like settings I should tweak to achieve a more-towards-reality image.

The shot is a living room interior that so far, it is empty but I took advantage of this emptiness to focus in getting a decent illumination. Tomorrow my client will tell me what kind of furniture and equipment he wants. So until then, I need your help to improve the lighting here.

I work with max 6 and brazil 1.2. I mostly play with the settings as I try to learn what every setting actually does, something it is being quite hard for me to understand in theoretical terms.....

Anyway, here, I'll post the first series with a brief explanation of each. Waiting eager to hear from all of you have to say....

Okey, I'll post the settings after the two shots. The settings are the same for both shots, the only difference is that one has 1 bounce and the other 2..

This is the one with 1 bounce

NO LO PUEDO CREER!!! UN THREAD DE NICO!!!

Hi my friend!!

this work is looking good!

I have one first tip... when you are trying to represent the sun light you sohuld use a direct light because the rays of the sun light are almost paralel here at the earth!

and a second one, take a look at the picture i attached... those dark shadows at roof and floor would give a nice touch to your picture. Your scene is looking too white! i think you need some shadows around there!

Try playing with one brazil light per window and use fallof attenuation.

one light?? how the hell did you do to light this scene with only one light?? i would love to know that.

I think this would make an excellent "learning from" thread if we could get people like Radarhead and other Brazil gurus in here. I've been trying to do things like this for a while, and run into the same problems.

One thing i know about doing a scene like this... You have multiple windows, and one light. Unless the light is very far from the windows, minor imperfections will arise and make the room look like someone is shining a flashlight through all the windows...

Another problem with this lighting setup is that you are wasitng a lot of photons by smackin' the outside of the structure with them.

Also, i noticed that in the corners, you have the same problem i have. In the little "nitch" that the camera is facing to the far right of the image (I don't have the means to edit the image and repost it right now, so use your imagination...) the corners "glow." I've had this problem in Brazil and i have no idea how to fix it...

(BTW, is the upgrade from Brazil 1.0 to Brazil 1.2 worth it?)

thanx for your comments zergling, I'm aware of all those imperfections and even more. The little nitch should be in the shade and not illuminated like that....The shadows are really poor as well..

anyway.... I hope too that the "brazil" gurus tell me what to do and help me out to improve my knowledge !

yes fusion, It's max 6, rendered in Brazil 1.2. And I modeled everything.....nothing special, just a simple spline technique, extruded and then collapsed to editable poly to play with different sizes quickly.....

I agree with you all, I'm also in the process of learning GI and global photon with brazil and bingo, I have the same problems..

If a master could help us, maybe by tutorial-like thread would be the best..? What general method? How do we start with lighting when modeling is finished,...

Thanks in advance

By the way if you know any good tutorial on the web about it, please feel free to post here.. I think it may help a lot of people..
