you need better lighting - it's too dark for the sky you have used. It looks like it should be a sunny day but you have no definition to your shadows - take another look at the lighting - sometimes just a quick GI set up is not enough you need direct light.

The whole image seems devoid of textures and bump maps - it looks like it's made of cardboard and there is no specularity that is visible to make it look believable - take another look at the textures, maybe apply some dirt maps etc to break up the block colouring.

How does water run off the roof (no drainpipes), how does the phone work (no cables etc) same for electricity.

The modelling looks rushed with sharp edges and corners - not very realistic.

One final question - does your house stand in the middle of a white textureless field?

Overall, in my opinion this isn't a "finished" image there's still a lot of work to be done - hence the move to the WIP forum.

Keep at it and get some detail and realism into the scene.

matty, what was the point of your reply?

Constructive and helpful criticism is great and it is why people post on forums. To be told something that obviously needs some more attention to detail is a "good model" doesn't actually help really does it?

Rather than just telling someone how great something is tell them how in your opinion it could be improved.

sorry...................anyways umm seriously I thought it was a good model which helps boost his self esteem but anyways obviously my opinion doesn't matter so.....anyways texture the rest and put some nice materials on the glass and more light and your all set in my opinion not like it matters anyways.

actually Matty you are wrong there - your opinion does count, as does everyone elses - that's why people post here and ask you to share it

Exclamation Thanx for constructive response

surely there is a lot to be done about it...and i do realize
Andy! i dont have a good system..it took a lot of time rendering this model with mere sky light.....can U tell me some way if i can get my final renderings online...i mean if someone else can do it for me..is there any such thing?
i am new to this realm of 3d stuff....have been modeling lifeless engineering models due to my engineering profession...so keep up constructive criticism....it will help me improve.

skylights do take a long time to render particulary if you are using them to cast shadows.

try this, use the skylight without casting shadows for the "ambient" light and use a couple of distant or infinite lights (depending on the description of them in your software) to cast the shadows. That should speed up your render times.

As for getting your work on line - does your isp provide you with any free web space? Or why not sign up to anyone of those that do. Some allow you to link directly to images some don't - check that out before you agree to the deal.

check out the various options here

http://www.freewebspace.net/

Alternatively sign up to a cheap provider and get your site and domain hosted professionally - it doesn't have to cost a fortune.

rendering 3d models

Andy! U mistook my statement, i meant as if i can get my 3d models rendered from elsewhere<online>....now if there is some suggestion do let me know...

Another question which i wanted to ask was, can i get a good materials tutorial covering all types online for free?....i mean comprehensive one...

I'm not sure about "online" rendering services. Anything you found would be aimed at commercial users and therefore expensive. You are far better off building your scenes so that your machine can render them rather than looking for someone else to do the rendering for you.

Check out the tutorials section of this site - there is loads of stuff there that's all free.
