Hey everybody!
This would be my first post here. I've been working on this head for a while, but haven't had the inspiration to work on it more. If anyone out there can help with any critiques or comments, they are most welcome. I'm trying to make this head as realistic as possible and I'm having a little trouble with that. She is done in 3ds Max 5. I just can't seem to get her to look the way I want her to. I'm trying to make her look like a mix between Zhang Ziyi from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and Jue from Final Flight of the Osiris. I know I still need to work around the eyes, any help with that will help too. Thanks folks! ![]() |

Looks pretty good, I love the lips. The eyes you already said need work so I won't say more but the head looks too deep, I'd scale that a bit. I'm working on a head too so when you come across my thread feel free to drop in a word!

Hey it looks pretty good. Nice tidy mesh too. I'm not sure about the profile though, It looks like the depth of th nose on your z plane is a little shallow and the head a the rear is falling back a bit. Are you using reference for front and profile or just the front?
I hope this isn't too much crit. Check out www.fineart .sk for human reference if you need it. Or Check out www.stevengiesler.com. Jue is there!! Last edited by JayEdwards; 17-03-2004 at 11:12 AM.. |

The top of the head looks too boxy and the back looks stretched out, but otherwise its really good. Post a shot from the perspective view. The front/profile views can be misleading sometimes.

Back again...
Well, after a long time of waiting, procastinating, pre-planing, and inspiration, I've finally been able to get back to my character I've been trying to create. I scrapped the last head and started a new one, this time in Maya 5. I've been told that modeling organic things in Maya look a lot better than in 3Ds Max. Anyway, I've been working on this head for two days now. It only took me about 10 hours to get this far. The ears need to worked a bit as well as the mouth. I'm still trying to work the topology.
Here's my head. Any critiques or comments are welcome. Thanks! ![]() |

another one...
Well, here's a lil update again. I re-did the whole entire head, this time in 3ds Max, dunno why. I've scrapped so many heads. I just seem to like the modeling better in 3ds Max, and the texturing in Maya. Oh well... I'm still trying to change the face around still to make her look young. She looks kinda 20-ish in this one, trying to make her look 17. The ears need a little bit more work too.
Any critiques or comments are welcome and greatly apprecitated. Thanks! ![]() |

Huh?!
What?! No critiques or comments yet?! Oh well...
Right now I'm just working on her body. Will have a post of that sometime later. Thanks to those who have helped me! |

I think she has the head too big in the side view, you have to reduce the back part of the head a lot. But the face seems to be good. Maybe the way the ears meet the face it's a little strange, but I'm not sure. And I can't find nothing more wrong.

Hey folks! Thanks for all the critiques and comments so far.
Ok. Said that I'd update and I did. :P Just tweaked things around here and there. I'm deciding to change her jaw a bit to make her face a little more petite. I'll be working on the rest of the body as well as texturing. Hopefully sometime in the future I'll be wanting to rig this character up and be able to animate her. Let me know what you people think. Any crituques or comments would be very helpful. Thanks a bunch folks. ![]() ![]() |

Ok. Did some more updating. This time on her body. It's still in the works, obviously. I'm having difficulty around the breast area. Trying to make them look natural and fit for her age/ body type. So, any critiques or comments are more than welcome. I'm deciding to model everything first before moving on to the texturing. Thanks folks!

Well, it's coming along, but very slowly...
Here's what I've got so far. Chang little things here and there... I just have so many things to do now that I've been working on this on and off. I'm trying to study topology and studying other wireframes from other models... Anyway, here's what I got so far. The sides and back has been barely touched, so it's just these shots for now. No lighting or anything, and just a standard blinn material. Will work with Oranatrix for the hair, if I can get a chance to play around with it more. Any comments or critiques would be greatly appreciated. Thanks folks! ![]() |
