If you want you can send me one of your scenes to camillo_lopes@yahoo.com

I'll set up vray lighting in the scene and send it back to you ready to render.

Only now I read your post saying you dont have vray. Download a free version on www.vrayrender.com it's free and time unlimited, still much easier and fast than mental ray.

it is definitely better than all of the images before, no doubt about it. But still, nowadays having the chance to dip into the GI world you should go for that. Download the free vray or try to get the full version too if you have the chance
I'll help you learning it ! don't worry !

You will learn it pretty fast and you'll have to pick up your client's jaw when he sees the images

Your modelling skills are amazing, but as others have said your lighting isn't up to par. I think the most simple thing you can do is have your main lightsource, which seems to be the sun most of the times, and have that with a 1.5 multiplier or something of that effect to show its strong, then place low value omni's in the places where light is most likely to bounce around, with also some decay so it doesn't light up the whole room.

Great job so far!

The last image you posted, rendered with vray has got no GI. You got to turn it on. Go to the "indirect illumination(GI)" menu and turn it on.

Now here's the scene you sent me. This is a vray render with GI. The end result was a bit dark but it was the first test I did. I should increase light in the scene. As you see I only changed the lights and a couple of materials and although a bit dark I think the image has improved a lot.

WOW! that looks amazing, even though it is dark - it looks way better than my images!

btw, where is the "indirect illumination(GI)" menu? i'm using max 6 and i dont see it anywhere - i only see a menu for radiosity and light tracer???

Go to the render menu - renderer - Vray:indirect illumination(GI) - select "on". By the way, you got vray basic or vray advanced?
