Can I somehow meshsmooth only part of an editable mesh? I want the bottom square part of a chair to be square and blocky, but the rest to be smooth. Help me please, Im at a competition!

are u using maX?

its pretty easy in max, all u need to do is select the polys u wanna smooth, then apply the modifier and in the options jst click off the "apply to whole mesh" tick boxx.
u also might wanna try messing about with the smoothing groups once uve applied mesh smooth..........

try it out
