Help with Animation
Heya all
Im doing a anim for a school project (nothing fancy) but i ran into a little problem. Ive got my character who pulls a pogostick from behind his back, puts it in front of him and climbs on it. Well now i want my character to move along with the pogostick so i dont have to keyframe every single move. According to character studio tutorial u can bind the biped to the (in my case pogostick) object. Than the character should follow the movements. Now comes the problem when i do this it follows the movement but it follows it from the beginning of the anim and not from the frame i want it to follow. Ill post links to 2 movies one with the normal animation second with the wrongful animation which the whole characters moves with the pogo stick from the beginning. Any help appreciated Thanx in advance. Software used: 3dstudio max 6 with character studio 4 movie codec xvid mpeg4 http://www.xs4all.nl/~paul009/threedy/normal.avi http://www.xs4all.nl/~paul009/threedy/wrong.avi

Instead of linking the biped to the pogo stick, link the biped to a dummy or point object. Then you can use the link constraint on the dummy/point object to link it to the pogo stick at the frame that you need the biped to move with it and not before.

Sorry I should have been more specific with the instructions. First you would want to link the point to the world at frame 0, then link the point to the pogo stick at frame 103. You also might have to play with the Key Mode's located right under the link constraint object window.

I just had to comment you.
I know this doesn't have anything to do with this thread.
But I had to comment on it. Jenn 3DT your avatar makes me crack up, everytime I see it. Its really funny and cute. Don't ask me why. It just has that look, like shes just saying "growl baby growl!". LoL. Cyrenn Wip- Android 69 http://forums.3dtotal.com/showthread...5&pagenumber=7

OKay Jenn i did what u said i have it linked to the world a frame 0 and then linked to the stick at 103.
Played some with the key modes. Now if i move the dummy my biped goes along with it but not the pogostick and if i move the stick only the stick moves nothing else so prolly did something wrong again! Well i know ur busy but if u have some time i attached my file could u take a look at it?? If u can't its okay too. Thanx in advance Paul http://www.xs4all.nl/~paul009/threed...out_School.zip

Cyrenn, thanks that's pretty much the reaction I was going for
![]() il_paulio, you're using max 6 aren't you? I'm still using 5 so I can't open your file. I know this works because I use it all the time. Maybe you should delete the point object and create a new one. Or you could try using the link constraint on the biped's com object (the diamond thing in the pelvis) I've never tried it directly on a biped so I'm not sure it would work. |
