Talking 'Jiggy' the Gangsta Squirrel [wip]

Havn’t posted much in the last few months, so though I’d share my latest Work in Progress (JIGGY the Gangsta Squirrel)

Been working on him for about 10 hours total, have a few more accessories to add then it’s a long and scary road of texturing and rigging. Textures wise, Ill prob keep him simple and cartoony. The colors I’m using now are simply for reference…
Hes obviously got a long way to go, but I figured it would be good to get some feedback… so let me know what you think so far.

Thanx for your time

I reccomend that you try to push some of his facial features to add a little more character. Maybe make his eyes bigger for instance.

The crit is taht he looks a little dry, like he is a actionfigure of the character as opposed to the actual character. It might just be the radiosity tho...

Smile JIGGY

Thanx for all your comments!

Xenite: I agree, I’ve been working a little more with his facial features, and Ill post some more when I get somewhere… having trouble getting him to look quite right.

IdownupI: here are the sketches I was using for reference. As you can see they are pretty halfassed, I’m not to patient with drawing and I just need something to give me a general modeling guide… but here ya go

Keep the comments coming and critiques are more than welcome… ill be rigging this guy later so if im gana go through that tedious task I want to make sure im on the right track modeling wise…. So let me hear it… and thanx again

I think that although the drawings lack refinment, they have a lot of character and energy, both of which are very hard to capture in 3d.

The drawing is very lopsided, which creates a sense of the character, like he is a little out there, screws loose or something (I didn't want to call a squirrel 'nuts' ), maybe make a copy of this character and see if you can alter the mesh to capture some of that.

Keep it up, you are totally on the right track.

UPDATE: face

Been working on his face a little more. The top of his head was a little wide so I changed that, and as you can see… made his eyes bigger witch I think helps make him look a little more cartoony and goofy. I also refined his eyebrows a little more for better facial animation. What do you think so far?

Nice funny character, i love the gangsta trousers

You should give him round cheecks becaus you don't have an upper view you can't see the depth of the line that devides the round cheek from the head. So the line you got over that one should be more inward i think.

greets

It's true, his eye socket could do with some lids, heavy ones preferably. At the moment he's staring too much, and he doesn't have that laid back sort of look that I think could work here.

A gangster squirrel shouldn't be so happy. hahah. Funny idea, get some half-closed lids, and make him looking just a little away from the camera, to give the 'i dont even care' impression

nj so far
