CLASSICAL Music

What are your classical pieces of music,you listen to?
here's my list (I don't know if the english name of each piece is correct)

Prokofiev :Romeo and Juliet
Paganini :La Campanella( in order to mantain an insane feeling of national pride i left the name in italian)
Rimsky Korsakov:The flight of the Bumblebee
Peter Tchaikovsky:The nutcracker suite
Handel:Sarabande
A night on the bare mountain:Mussorgsky
Katchaturian: Saber dance
mozart :Turkish march
Beethoven:Moonlight sonata

and of course some Requiems such as the Verdi one and 'O Fortuna' by Carmina Burana (Carl Orff)...

...and now it's your turn...I wanna know what youre listenning to...and may be gives me some other pieces...

I like all types of music. Since I live in North America then I learned to like whats popular(ex.tupac) He has some really inspirational lyrics.

Then there's classical music. I learned to appreciate classical music and im glad I did because it really does make you a more inteligent person. And if you can analyze music like that, your one step closer to a genious. Unfortunatly, most people no longer associate with that genre of music.

Lastly, there's rock. Im not a rock fanatic but there are always those days were you just want to put something really heavy on.

Basically it depends on mood but heres a few of my favs:

Classical: Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Handel, Paganini, Shumann, Chopin

Rock: Linkin Park, Sum41, Limp Bisket

Rap/Reggae: Tupac, Beanie Man, Eminem, Nas, Sean Paul, Buju Banton, Elephant Man....

......and the list goes on and on and on!!!

Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Pachabel, Tchaikovsky - I listen to these guys quite a bit. I play a few of Beethovens and a couple Mozart's sonotas on the piano - Moonlight Sonota definitely being one of my favorites.

Then there's also a lotta other classical I listen to that I don't know the name of the artist. =X Crag Armstrong - B.O.F. Guns 1748 is an incredible piece...but I know very little about the writer.

Moonlight Sonata is everybody's favourite. I just got through Moonlight sonata on the piano because im trying to redo all the pieces I learned from the past.....good to go back

Im trying out invention #25 by Bach but its pretty difficult considering the piano I have. The keys don't jump back up so can't play trills or fast scales Hell, I can't even do invention #1 from the few simple trills, time to save money again for a new piano

I would say F you profane, but since I think the moderators would be mad so I won't. I will say though that you have to be an american to understand the granduer of gunning down technologically inferior natives with helicopters because they're commies. And playing Wagner while you do it. Also what do you mean it's out of place, it's the best conquering music of all time.

As far as music I am listening/have listened to (and enjoyed) most recently:
(I can listen to the first three for hours on end)
Beethoven: Symphonies Nos. 5, 9
Antonin Dvorak: Symphony No. 0 (From the New World)
Chopin: Piano Concerto No. 1
Charles Ives: Symphony No. 1
Jason Hayes: EVERY PIECE OF WARCRAFT MUSIC HE HAS WRITTEN ROCKS!!!

I was also listening to Albinoni's Adagio, and I can hum all the little themes by heart because I heard it a lot as a little kid, but listening to it again - I love the first four minutes or so, but after that, it is as scattered as any Tchaikovsky (how to spell, not concerned) symphony.

Fusion -- Invention #25?! I thought there were only 15! And yea, #1 does have a few trills, so #4 is my favorite "simple" one. I am currently working (slowly) on 13 and 14.

I can't say that Moonlight Sonata is my favorite piece because it is one of those pieces which is played so much that the life is sapped out of it. I learned the first movement (Fusion - did you learn Mvt. III as well?) by memorizing it measure by measure in a month and a half (before any piano lessons). But I just don't enjoy it that much.

I am learning Debussy's Op. 1 No. 2 (Deux Arabesques) right now, sort of finishing it up, working on two Brahms pieces (some of his piano music is good, but it is nothing like his symphonies), and some Bach and Beethoven.

Hmmm... Russian or German? I really don't know. I would hate to exclude Rachmaninoff by saying Brahms or Bach.

In the book that I have, your right it does only go up to 15 but when I heard this I had to play it (dwnld attachment) I still have to get around to playing invention 4, but i definatly want to go through all of them.......they really interest me!!

Have you composed any pieces yet? I havent but im really willing to learn. It seems very difficult but if Mozart can do it.....then i guess i can too.......I compared myself to Mozart I should bow my head down in shame

Well, it's an invention all right (2 part). I don't recall ever hearing it before, but it may just be an assigned numbering (unofficial or something like that, it also may be the publisher's designation).

I haven't composed anything longer than about four measures (many little ideas, most of them similar), with the exception of a 65 measure piece I composed for a music theory class(no, I don't know how it came out to 65 measures). It didn't really sound too good, mostly because I wrote it in counterpoint and messed up a bit. For that class, I also "composed" (in the same way I compose the answers to math problems on tests) a 12 tone piece. That came out very well, even though it doesn't sound like music.
