Thats strange......I wouldn't think windows update would do such a thing. I update windows all the time and max works fine. You must have had max running while the update was installing!!

Anyway, uninstalling windows update will do nothing because the problem is still there. Now im not sure you can uninstall it but you can definatly disable it. Here's what to do.

On the bottom right of your screen you should have a bunch of little icons(next to your clock) that are running. Click on the one that looks like a world with a windows sign on it (win update). Then click details and you should have the options "settings" "remind me later" "close" ........click on settings.......Then a new window pops up. Check the box at the very top that disables win update.

Note: If that icon isn't at the bottom right of your screen then your going to have to wait until an update becomes available(I couldn't find another way to open it )

But like I said it won't fix anything.......it hurts me for saying this because ive been through it many times but.......it looks like your going to have to re-install max

Good luck anyway downup!!

If you go to the control panel and choose add/remove programs. Down the bottom of the list should be all your windows updates. But, you will need to know what the one was that you installed to be able to remove the correct one.

or

Are you sure you didnt do a driver update at the same time without noticing? I did that once and it replaced my graphics drivers and things didnt work, until I noticed the drivers had changed and I changed them back.

no no no no...
DO NOT ever uninstall a windows update...
they are dependent on all the other updates and service packs.. and if u remove one u will have big problems..
uninstall max.. reboot, and then reinstall max... that should fix the prob,, if not let me know, I'll keep an eye out for ya we will get u back up and running...
make sure u run a spyware remover I like adaware and spybot, I think there the best.. I have had some spyware that made max crash

Now what about uninstalling Windows Update downloads? To uninstall a Windows Update package, right-click the My Computer icon on the desktop, and choose Manage. In the left pane, highlight (click on) System Information, then click on the Tools menu (which will have just appeared). From the Tools menu, click Windows, then Update Wizard Uninstall. Since a backup is made of the existing files and drivers, the Uninstall program is able to replace them easily - although, again, a restart may be required.
Although I agree that its possible to cause problems. But, the chance is small and the effects likely to be minor and easily corrected. He did ask how to uninstall, not if it was a good idea

Ironbuket,
man u must hate me u love tryin to correct my suggestions, but thats cool just make me have to be smarter
well then, go uninstall a windows update and tell me how it works.
I do this stuff for a living, and I get paid pretty well, because I am very good at it... I have worked for the big M$ and I know how the os functions..
u are correct on how to uninstall an update, but over 50% of the time when u do try to uninstal one the computer will lock up and you have to power down and then one will be very lucky to even beable to boot back in to the os...

IDownupI
how did the reinstall of max go? did if fix the problem?
if it did what may have gone on (this is what happened to me) is max uses the CDILLA license server, and if you are using the specal version of this then I have seen even when you shutdown max that darn CDILLA keeps runing in the background (only sometimes tho) that most likely when on and then u installed the updates and CDILLA was using a system file that changed during the update to a newer ver, and thus corupted the licesening software...

Yea I love correcting things, I think my true calling might be as a teacher

I too do “this kind of thing” for a living, but I have kinda developed a “thick skin” over the years. So when someone asks me how to uninstall their copy of WinXp and put back Win95, I take a deep breath bite my lip and tell them how to do it

Yep, I hate my job. Ive always (music starts playing) wanted to be a ...LUMBERJACK!
