HELP: water animation

I'm new in animation and i need a fast way to create the effect of little waves an a pool surfaces, in 3dsMAX6. I don't need anything iper-realistic, just an easy way...Someone can help me? Do you know some tutorial?
This is the pool. The material is an architectural material of 3dsMAX6 with noise on bump and displace.

hey

do you mean just basic waves? like the waves of a resting surface, or do you mean like someone jumping in?

you could try using ripple spacewarp, or just noise animated...

and with the animation going wrong question, thats actually something i woldn't mind doing mself, if i ever get anything wrong i normally just delete key frames!

hope that helps a bit..

I dont have 3ds max 6 but in 3ds max 4 theres a parametric deformer called "wave"(but i think 3ds max 6 should have it) but you can just try animating the noise modifier.

Just play with the settings/parameters and you should get a nice effect....

i agree with chokin'

animated noise does give a really nice effect, and its simple too.

its just a tick box in the noise modifier panel

I'm trying to animate the phase of the noise that I put in the bump slot and it seems to be quite good

thats a good idea, but the bump isn't geometry so it might not be as good? could be though, post a clip so we can see what it looks like

i meant actually giving the geometry your using(box or whatever) as the water a noise modifier and animating that.

are you going to have anything else in the scene? looks quite empty

Yes i'm going to add something at the scene but just few things, it must be a video to show this apartament.
When I finish the animation I'll post it but I need to find a mirror or something else. Maybe it' time to take some MB on Internet
