Cool PC
What does everyone think is the best way of keeping a PC cool - as in stop it from overheating
reason I ask is that i just had to buy a new cpu fan....my processor was overheating when doing anything intensive (like rendering in max or even playing some games). my pc had the main cpu fan as well as the power supply fan. no case fans or anything like that. the cpu fan was running at 2300rpm - which is probably way to slow for a 3000xp processor as the temperature was reching at least 70degreesC. so today i went out a bought a cooler master jet 7 fanlike this one http://www.coolermaster.com/index.ph...CB-V83+JET%207 is it best to add a couple of case fans for blowing and sucking air in and out of the box....or does anyone use VGA cooling or HDD cooling....or even a liquid cooling system??? waddaya all think???

I fill the bath tub with cold water and toss my computer in there when im going to render
keeps it running nice and coooool...honisty ross... unless you have **** load of money to waste then dont get some crazzy cooling things.. and with the computers, video cards.. now aday.. there is no reasion to overclock the crap out of them... you just dont really get that much of a boost like in the days of PII and what not.... I oc'd my pc from 3.00gig for 3.2gig.. and you know what.. didnt make much of a diff at all.. got higher marks with speed testing programs.. but only shaved a few seconds off a render time.. thus I set it back to default... spend your money on buying a new CPU not fans or crazy cooling system..

i agree with u there USED - dont think i'd wanna spend a heap of cash on some crazy cooling system. And I dont think I can be bothered with overclocking anyways....my PCs fast enuff for me at the moment.
luckily the new cpu fan i bought only cost 25pounds (which is about $40US), and I saw case fans for about 10pounds (maybe $16US). So it's a very small price to pay to stop my PC from shutting down everytime I render anything....but i doubt I'd spend any more than that. anyways, who wants a crazy neon PC that looks like something you'd drive in an illegal street race??? ![]()

Insanity at its best.

Hey! I got the Jet too but for a P4 instead of an AMD. Nice little cooler, dropped my temps about 10 C from stock intel cooler on a 2.8ghz.
Looks darn cool too!

I got a LianLi full tower case...comes with 7 fans already...lol.
Sounds like a freakin jet plane at night. The only tweaking I`v edone was to the gfx card. I recently bought an Ati 9200.comes with the heat sink...but no fan....duh!!! I was getting some slow frame rates on certain games...so I rooted through my -bag o parts-..and found an old 3dfxcool..fan...screwed that to the ati heatsink...luckily found an open fan slot on the mainboard...and the card works great now... |

actually, when I play some pretty heavy games my pc gets too warm and reboots itself. So I just open the side panel and I have a fan blowing in there, a regular fan that is, you do what you gotta do huh? lol
