Maya - Edge Loops

Hi

I recently had the possibility to test out maya and I find it to my liking.
I just miss some Edge Loop Tools, like ring- and loop selection, inserting loops ( connecting ) and so on.
I didn't find anything via 'Maya Help' or elsewhere online.

So are there any? Or a *.mel Script maybe with similar functions.
