Vbulletin - Image plugs

I think a good idea for threedy would be image plugs at the top of the main page. similar to cgtalk and other forums.
It's easy to do with vbulletin and I know it would add a lot to the forum in terms of respect and a quicker way to view the very best work on the forums at a specific point.
I know the images that are very good get submitted to the gallery , but many of us only really come to forums.3dtotal.com rather than through 3dtotal.com.

It's possible, but is it worth the fuss?

I acctualy coded one at eeye.us. Though that's vB 3.0.0 rc 2 and threedy is 2.2.7. The forum planing might be entirely different.

Messing with the internal workings of vb when the forum's so large and active is very risky. Basing the system on the current mysql database might not even be possible and making it file/include based (like the one at eeye) when there's this much activity would provide increased load of the cpu and especialy the hdd. Might slow down forums by alot.

The question is: Do we really need it despite the costs?..
