Hey guys. Im completely new to the world of 3d modeling. I have tried a few of the tuts on the 3dtotal site but always get lost half way through any of the projects there.. Could you guys help me out with some tips or great tutorial links that could explain it deeply?

Humm. First you should do the tutorials that came with the software in order to get to know where to find the tools, and to get a fell of what modelling is like. Then, on other tutorials that might be more vague, you wouldn't get lost trying to find where to get splines from, or where the rendering options are...

i know the basics of 3ds max. Ive just never modeled a person before. Ive done abstract, and simple things like an apple and a bannana. I know my way around.

now thats a very different matter! ppl are very difficult, I repeat very difficult, to model!!
First you need references for at least side and front angles of the person/face. and then its practice practice and more practice... I don't thinkyou should jump to such a difficult thing right from the start, but good luck anyway. go check . Modeling Joan of Arc by Michel Roger in 3dtotal. Its the best human modelling tutorial I know. Good luck!
