speed modelling challenge week 9 - green power
speed modelling challenge week 9
The "rules" are simple, 1, Each week we'll post a subject for you to model along with a time limit on how long you should spend on it. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what we have asked for. 2, spend no longer than the specified time on the modelling stages then render the image. 3, Post the image here along with your details, software used, time spent etc. Please only post 2 versions, a clay and a rendered version. Posts with multiple renders of the same object will be deleted. 4, time spent on rendering or texturing is not included in the alocated period to allow those with slower machines to participate on an even playing field. What we are looking for is the quality of the models you can produce "under pressure" 5, if your model is not complete, you can still post as long as it's recognizeable 6, no cheating, we are relying on your honesty here and the idea of speed modelling is to simulate a "real world" environment. If you are working on a project and asked to show a concept model you'll need to be able to get somewhere near the target in the allocated time. Your submission should be a model created especially for this challenge and not one you have stored on your hard drive. 7, No limit to the number of entries each person is allowed as long as each one is a completely new model and not one that utilises bits of previous entries prize of a 3D Total texture CD to the best entrant. We'll judge it to avoid the voting process getting too complicated and winners will be notified by email. so, here we go, with this week's challenge deadline - midnight GMT Wednesday 18th august 2004 modelling time - 60 minutes subject - "Green Power" This can be any renewable source of energy, wind, wave, hydro etc - get creating - you've got an hour this week ![]() |

rechargeable batteries, rubber band powered machines, windmills, solar power, hydro electric turbines etc etc.
Anything that creates energy "naturally" rather than by using non renewable sources such as "fossil fuels" Andy |

Andy, please tell me you added that to a real scene. If you modelled that whole scene in less than an hour,
I'm gonna have to hunt you down! ![]()

tee hee Orkron,
the windmill is modelled, the rest is a composite of three versions of the same photo mapped onto planes and using alpha maps for the transparency. Works quite well doesn't it? ![]() Andy |
