speed modelling challenge week 13 - mouse
The "rules" are simple,
1, Each week we'll post a subject for you to model along with a time limit on how long you should spend on it. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what we have asked for. 2, spend no longer than the specified time on the modelling stages then render the image. 3, Post the image here along with your details, software used, time spent etc. Please only post 2 versions, a clay and a rendered version. Posts with multiple renders of the same object will be deleted. 4, time spent on rendering or texturing is not included in the alocated period to allow those with slower machines to participate on an even playing field. What we are looking for is the quality of the models you can produce "under pressure" 5, if your model is not complete, you can still post as long as it's recognizeable 6, no cheating, we are relying on your honesty here and the idea of speed modelling is to simulate a "real world" environment. If you are working on a project and asked to show a concept model you'll need to be able to get somewhere near the target in the allocated time. Your submission should be a model created especially for this challenge and not one you have stored on your hard drive. 7, No limit to the number of entries each person is allowed as long as each one is a completely new model and not one that utilises bits of previous entries 8, No external links to pictures, they must be attached using the browse button and be no larger than 800x600 pixels and 100k. Any pictures larger than this or links will be removed as soon as we see them and the poster will be disqualified immediately prizes of a 3D Total texture CDs to the best entrants. We'll judge it to avoid the voting process getting too complicated and winners will be notified by email. so, here we go, with this week's challenge deadline - 22.00 GMT Wednesday 15th September 2004 modelling time - 50 minutes subject - "mouse" |

Just to get this out of the way, and I'm sure you'll agree... The brief applies only to electronic mice right? No rodents!

Hehe, if there's something I have no skill at whatsoever, is organic modelling...I talk a lot, of course I'm gonna make submissions, I just know mine won't be as good as others' Thanks for the encouragement though.

Hey Andy,
Do only runner-ups and winners get to use threedy excellence? Or does that apply to honorable mentions too?

hey Andy heres a question, if i model a mouse (the animal) does rigging and posing fall in the modeling time of the competition? Just wondering cuz i can model organics pretty good but i was wondering if i had time to pose it as well without running into time constraints.

orkron - only winners and runners up get the awards - have you checked your private messages recently?
segreto, rigging and posing will fall into modelling time as far as I'm concerned - sorry Andy |

thanks for the reply Andy. Thats ok, maybe i can model the mouse to pose and not rig him. Or i can just model a mouse in the standard pose( im thinking a cartoon mouse) Or if im fast enough i can get a quick and sloppy FK rig on him... skinning him is gonna be a pain tho...hmm we'll see what i can do in 50 minutes
